Matt speculates that when Julie finds a boyfriend, he'll have a beard and long hair. Julie leaves Carolee's gift with Nurse Buckley, who has other plans for it. Althea contemplates telling her mother the truth and admits she's beginning to see things more clearly. Mike warns Julie about Nurse Buckley, who was passed over for the job given to Carolee. After finding her letter to Elaine moved, Julie confesses to the family her reasons for writing to a dead woman. An ashamed Maggie decides to become Julie's best friend. Edna begs Althea to reconsider asking Nick for a divorce. Alone in her room, Julie decides to write another letter to Elaine since Maggie spoiled the previous one by touching it.
