Edna tells Althea that she's going back home because Althea's marriage is already threatened without her presence. She elaborates by revealing John's hostility toward Nick as well as his speculation that Nick is not only primitive but violent. Edna says that unlike Althea, John appears to hold grudges, and the two of them have to settle that difference if they're going stay married. Steve describes Karen as an iceberg, you never know what's going on below the surface, and Carolee wonders if she might let Erich visit them so that he can get to know his little sister Stephanie. Karen daydreams of a romantic life with Matt, who promises that he's taking Maggie to Trinidad to say goodbye. Karen thinks to herself that she wouldn't stay in the United States for 10 minutes if she thought she didn't stand a chance of taking Matt away from Maggie.
