Tired, hungry and thirsty from their travels, Terry (Jay North) and Raji (Sajid Khan) meet sneaky archaeologist Michael Pate (as Matt Collins) and his Indian adviser P. Jairaj (as Kana). The teenage wanderers reluctantly agree to work for Mr. Pate, who needs a couple of young hands, and Maya the elephant to haul dirt. They work near a shore, digging for treasure at a picturesque ancient temple's ruins. Pate claims he has a government permit, but we know from the first scene that he's a crook. One man he shoots in the opening minutes lives, and likewise treacherous Bimal Raj (as Ang) joins the quartet in digging for treasure...

"The Treasure Temple" is a noticeable improvement over recent episodes. The interplay between the four main characters is nicely done, in both words and direction. Perhaps the script, written by Lee Erwin, was responsible for the spark. Director Herbert Coleman, the young co-stars and guest cast all turn in good work. The story's climax is especially well done. And, of course, the Indian location is always a strength; this time, series cinematographer Gunter Senftleben and the crew have some wonderful settings to work with.
