Maya The Root of Evil (1967–1968) Online

Raji urges Terry to visit a holy man for information about his missing father. While the teenagers visit his temple, a thief and his accomplice steal a golden religious statue and attack a priest. In the wrong place at the wrong time, Terry and Raji are arrested for the crimes. Maya helps the youngsters escape from jail and the mob waiting for them to kill them, so they can recover the statue and clear their names.

Seeking information about his missing father, Terry (Jay North) decides to visit an Indian temple. He and companion Raji (Said Khan) are also running out of money. Before the teenagers arrive at the temple, glorified thief Prem Nath (as Chand) and his accomplice Bimal Raj (as Bir) steal a priceless golden idol and attack a priest. In the wrong place at the wrong time, Terry and Raji are blamed for the crimes. With Maya's help, they hope to set things right. It's nice to see Maya participate in this episode, and the scenery is picturesque...

After the beginning accident, an interesting moment occurs when Terry says, "I tore my knuckles on the fender." Seeming nonessential to the plot, this looks like an ad lib. But, later, the wounded priest's head gets blood on Jay North's shirt, so the knuckle scrape may have been added to explain what might otherwise look like a continuity error; as scenes were often filmed out of order. Then, before an escape, the bloody incident is again mentioned. Whichever was the case, North and the crew certainly handle the situation smoothly.
