Advocate Anand Saxena lives in a small apartment with his wife, Kavita, who came from a wealthy family, and their young son. They live in a crime-prone area as Anand cannot afford to live in a better locality, due to his honesty and integrity. Almost daily they are mocked at, made fun of, and even have their motor-cycle burned at the hands of the goonda elements, led by Captain Dada, who owes allegiance to criminal don, Uncle Kalra. Then Captain Dada meets and falls in love with Anshu Mehra, and introduces himself as Vijay. He changes his character to impress Anshu, and even befriends Kavita. He takes Anshu to meet Kavita, and that's when Anand rips off the mask of respectability from Captain's face, with Anshu having her heart broken, and refusing to have anything to do with him again. I don't know about the taste of other audience but how can the people do underestimate the low budget good love story and violence situation where a man (captain) who spend his time around bad people called street muggers and take extortion money then a good family come in his area A lawyer(Advocate Anand Saxena ) who is very honest and his wife Mrs. (Kavita Anand Saxena) also a kind woman ,try to change the life of captain ,in starting his didn't take the serious concentrate of their talk then a girl come in his life and he didn't tell her that he is a street mugger who is he like very much , lawyer's wife make him feel that he should change from now ,then After some conflict and fights scene he became a good man then save the girl from the don's son (who the captain worked for before became the good man) then they runway here and there to save themselves from his gang , story very good , acting are superb and some dialogues are heart touching Very entertaining Movie .

Akshaye Khanna is an actor with talent but sadly his career had lot of bumpy jerks, his debut was a flop, he got praise in BORDER but then he signed any film, he gave a series of flops. LAAWARIS 1999 was another. The film is similar to Yash Chopra's Mashaal(1984) however it's handling is weak. There are some good scenes but the film is very predictable and gets too melodramatic at many places

Direction is bad Music is decent, Aa Kahi stands out rest are okay

Akshaye Khanna with receeding hairline tries too hard, does impress as an actor but his height and physique works against him, Manisha Koirala is decent, Jackie Shroff and Dimple leave a mark Govind Namdeo is as usual, Parmeet Sethi is as usual rest are okay
