After the international success of his film "Frida, naturaleza viva," an idiosincratic biography of painter Frida Kahlo, Mexican filmmaker Paul Leduc started a trilogy of films based on music and absence of dialogue as common denominators. This one, co-produced by México, Cuba and Spain is based on Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier's novel "Concierto barroco", and premiered at Cannes film festival. In other countries (as Spain) it was turned into a television series in five parts, taking advantage of all the musicians and singers appearing in the cast. Followed by "Latino Bar" and "Dollar Mambo", all three exercises did not lack interest, but the strategy began to beg for spoken words.
