Since the director is also the composer of the music, the song's arrangement was shaped by the needs of the narrative. As a result, Marigny Tumble is both a music video and a narrative film short with an original score. The intricate syncopation of its imagery and dramatic flow grew organically from the music to produce a jazz form of cinematic storytelling that scintillates with energy. The song was written as a celebration of life in New Orleans' Faubourg Marigny before Hurricane Katrina. It's a romance of a frayed and radiant place and time, and of the compulsively creative denizens, their strivings scattered on the breeze like the incense of the coffee roasting warehouses ...
