The Sioux tribe nears the end of its food supplies, Yakari and Little Big-Shot fear they'll go hungry without another buffalo hunt. A crone seeks to appease them, which Little Big-Shot ignores, but Yakari listens to her story about the seeds which the sun gave the Sioux during a major drought and promises to take good care of the package she hands over. He looses nearly all wresting with elements and a squirrel, but is assured at his dejected return that he actually succeeded, which nature's bounty soon proves right.
