In this episode they say the four different versions of the girls name in the same order as they were displayed in the title, "Alex Annie Alexis Ann".

Putting the bodies of the bus company employees into the wood chipper is reminiscent of the Coen Brothers film "Fargo" (1996). Bobby used a wood chipper to kill an Okami in season 6 "Weekend at Bobby's".

This episode makes a reference to The Walking Dead. Sheriff Mills says, "The guy still has nightmares about the barn episode of The Walking Dead." Lauren Cohan, who played Bela Talbot for 6 episodes throughout Season 3 in 2007/2008, currently plays Maggie Green in The Walking Dead and is in the episode mentioned. Robert Berens has written a total of 3 episodes for Supernatural, and those three are some of the ones I've enjoyed the most this season. Berens is a very talented writer, and if it were up to me, I'd have him write a lot more.

Remember the old Supernatural days when the monsters actually felt like a threat? Well, I for one had almost forgotten what that was like. This season, the "monster-of-the-week" episodes have not been to my liking, because it seems like many of the writers don't know how to have a single-episode story (that also includes pieces of the overall plot) without making it a mess of rehashed dialogue that just reiterates everything that happened the previous week. This is where Robert Berens really excels at his writing. He does not do that. He doesn't treat the season's plot and his episode as two different stories. You can see the places where the plot peeks through without making Sam or Dean just blurt out a summary of the season's conflicts.

"Alex Annie Alexis Ann" is a single-story episode that involves a nest of vampires and Sheriff Jody Mills. I love Jody, and she is one of the few strong female characters that is still alive and doesn't come across as baggage or a damsel needing to be saved. What I was worried about was whether the plot involving vampires would hold my interest. Back in season 1, vampires were first introduced to the show and were written as menacing, soulless monsters that cared about their meal more than the life of the person they were drinking from. Since then, several different writers have tried to take the idea of vampires one step further, trying to create more of a story by making a more complex plot, such as trying to make the vampires seem more human or misunderstood. And, with the exception of Benny from season 8, I haven't really been all that interested in the vampire episodes since season 1. Robert Berens, being the great writer that he is, made me actually excited about a vampire episode.

It's a very simple plot, and that's what makes it work so well. We don't need to bring in "bigger and better" enemies every week, because eventually the mega-strong villains just stop being much of a threat. When Supernatural brought in a whole group of Greek gods back in season 8, was that cool? Yes. Was I worried about Sam or Dean? Nope. And why is that? Because at a point, it feels like the writers try too hard to one- up the last villain, when in all honesty, some of the most thought- provoking and creative stories come from the most simple plots. These vampires weren't some uber-vampires from the darkest pits of hell or anything spectacular like that, they were just a group of normal Supernatural vampires... and they were fantastic!

I actually cared about the characters that were introduced, I cared about what I was watching, and at a point I was actually concerned for several peoples' wellbeing. These vampires didn't have some ulterior motive, they were, for the most part, just a blood-thirsty and crafty group of monsters that sort of reminded me of a mix between season 1 vampires and the Benders family(you all remember them!). It was nice and refreshing to see Sam and Dean actually hunt like they used to.

Sam and Dean were great to watch. Yes, they've had some issues this season, and at no point did they seem to have forgiven each other, but it was subtle enough that it didn't interfere with the plot at hand. I didn't have them screaming "we have brotherly issues!" in my face, and I also didn't have them reminding me for the millionth time that "Metatron and the angels are the purpose of this season!" Not everything has to be about angels and the war.

Jody was probably the highlight of this episode. Kim Rhodes did an amazing job! Also a very big round of applause to all of the side- characters who brought so much to the episode.

Robert Berens knows how to make the characters seem real. The dialogue traded between people never feels forced or fake, and their actions never seem unrealistic. I loved this episode, and I can say without a doubt that it was one of the best (if not THE best) single-episode plot we've had all season. I sincerely hope that Berens writes more episodes in the future.

Another vampire hunt with a twist. Sam and Dean are on another Vampire hunt looking for a nest. Just like the old days with Gordon. This time the hunt includes the Winchester female cop friend and involves a girl raised by vampires. A mother's intuitions believe the girl is not a trap for the vampires, but a good person. The hunters lives relies on a mother's intuition. A moving twist from a formulated story. The side story of Dean the mark of Cain is evident. Cain's mark has made Dean colder. Dead sarcastically replies what's wrong with enjoying my job. Well written, acted and directed. Alex Annie Alexis Ann show is a nice retro episode. 7 out of 10 stars. Dean still rules!

I think this is one of my favorite seasons of supernatural. What I like about this episode is that it shows that they can have it both ways. Last episode was great setting up the major story line with the angels as well having the next episode be about Sam & Dean hunting vampires. This felt like it could've been an episode from season 1 and there's good and bad to this. The bad thing I think this episode takes away from the main story line. I understand Sam & Dean still have to do cases despite Abadon & everything else but it felt to independent from the story. Last episode they set up Meditron plan and the next they just give us an unrelated story. I think this episode feels a little out of place with the rest of the season, I mean if they would've showed the guys at their layer trying trying find Abadon and they got a call from Jodie I think that would've tied things together. However the good thing is that supernatural is able to have it both ways. They can give us a big dramatic story line about angels, heaven, hell and demon knights as well as giving us one shot stories with Sam & Dean hunting. That's what makes the show work. You need a little bit of both. At it's core the show is about two brothers hunting the supernatural and I understand how some fans may not like it when it becomes more about saving the world, however it's hard to do a 22 episode season with just the boys hunting demons and what not and no bigger story. The heaven and hell stuff makes for a much more compelling season but you might get tired of it if every episode was about that. So this episode gives us a nice break before we go back to the main story. Great episode.

Rating 7/10: Not a huge fan of Jodie Mills. Really hope her character fizzles. I feel like this show strikes out quite a bit with female characters in general, but it could be just me. Lilith is really the only female character that I kind of enjoyed, and she wasn't even that great either. Anyways, Jodie sucked it up for this episode. Again we have a character that knows Sam and Dean, and still thinks she can do whatever they can. It's like the ghostfacers all over again. This story was believable, just very boring. Especially since it was Jodie doing the saving and not Sam and Dean. Also what were up with that girls eyes? Dean's eyes didn't do that when he was almost turned? Also, why didn't they use that cure they used on Dean that just made him throw everything up and then he was good to go?

The head vampire said to a "turned" girl (who was turned just by sipping some vamp blood) that soon she will lose her "human feelings" as if vampires are not human... ever herd about a vampire dog? not very common but does sure not seem too impossible... meaning a "vampire" means a vampire human... the worst is the fact that these "emotionless" vampires feel feelings like anger, sadness, need of belonging and especially grief meaning that they have feelings and "human feelings" actually means morals, as "i don't care about the innocent anymore" meaning that this show claims that once you become a vampire you lose all kind of morals you have, which is very stupid... not just that it does not make any sense at all, it's also stupid writing wise as vampires cannot look more boring than that. it makes them all the same, robots, with no morals and no personal goals. as if a person cannot become a vampire, and with a lot of self work become a better vampire have some personality, and use his abilities the way he desire but in this show it's important that something interesting like that wont happen... otherwise this show wont be so obliviously boring. and we can't lose that...

On many cases "still better story than twilight" will apply... but this one has it the other way around. twilight is (and I'm saying this about to puke in my mouth) is more Gothic, and have more (burp) personality than that. this was probably the worst.. thing.. I've seen about vampires.

Even worst you have once again the two "hunter" brothers being racist once more killing others just for what they are... and then the show somehow explains to us how their racism is correct... making everything once more meaningless and boring (everyone are inexplicably evil, die without any impressive fight or any at all, hunters win and snooze up how "good" they are) as the enemies are all the time some kind of a human... just with some "special" idiotic feature that they seem to assume grants them rights to murder them for (and the feature is idiotic because it DOES NOT make them any different) like this human with sharp teeth, human with black eyes, human with a lot of talking about how he is an "angel" but can't do anything not even the eye thing the "demons" can, and so many more like that they are all humans... they cannot do anything a human can't... except for some tiny telekinesis once every 17 episodes they cannot move fast, not fly, not use spiritual energy in any way, can't jump high, can't dodge fast, can't sense their surroundings, can't use any elemental power, can't slow time, can't read minds, can't transform into anything, they can't even defend themselves with some kind of energy field or skin or even just block or give any worth looking at of a fight they are nothing but fat useless humans who talk a lot. they can do one thing which is teleport, but not in any cool way, just appear and disappear without any cool effects, no warping out of walls or raising from the ground just that "behind the camera" disappearing, and even with that it is not used in any way in battle... I mean, you can vanish from world to world in mil second but you just going to stand there when someone grabs/punch/stab you... best fighter ever! I'm seriously disappointed with humanity for the idiotic score this show has, but I guess I'll admit the main actors are good looking, so basically this score means that today woman think with their vagina instead of their heads.

This is an honest opinion after giving this show WAY more than enough chances to prove it wrong... if you do not agree with it just because you like Dean and Sam read 2 lines above. if you do think with your head and you like this... well I won't say anything there, if you do enjoy have fun, but a 8/10 is a joke... you have to agree here.
