Uwe Raiter's fatally shot corpse is found in the ski lift at the Garmisch ski resort where his firm is negotiating to sell a snow canon, a practice furiously opposed by extreme environmentalists. Uwe also had an affair with the resort manager's promiscuous wife. His business partner left messages hinting at a crushing secret. The team finds further potential motives and arms while checking on alibis. The young commissioner makes a good impression on his actually clumsier chief, who is caught out scamming a search warrant from his ex, the ADA, by her boss, while her parents visit their still shared home.
