Rather then turning himself in as prime suspect for the murder of Joris, his romantic rival for missing third former colleague Liesbeth, Nick runs to conduct his own investigation, while Tine resigns in regionally competent commissioner David Verhulst, Joris's boss, conducting the only official one. Steve reluctantly informs Tine that Nick called him to pas son he found a cash fortune hidden in Joris's home, Verhulst forces the team to help him set a trap, but Nick took precautions. When he looks up Joris's last partner Van Ottevaere in his home, they are shot at by a masked man but escape, only Nick unhurt. Van Ottevaere reluctantly admits, desperate for medical help, being part since long of a dirty cops gang.
