Evil 2 picks up right where the original left off and explains where the "evil" came from originally. Melitis, Marina, Jenny, and Vakirtzis are still on the run from the endless horde of undead that are devouring all of Greece. As it turns out; this is not the first time that "the evil" has taken over Greece and as before, a "messenger from the gods (Billy Zane)" has come to Earth to find "the heroes" who will defeat the evil and save the world.

Since it's the very second zombie film in Greece and it is better than the first, it makes it the best Greek zombie movie! LOL!

Seriously now, although the script may seem far fetched at occasions, the characters are all fun, the humor is typical Greek (thus it may not be appreciated by foreign audiences)and there are some great scenes and ideas. It's a splatter movie, so be prepared for many gory/funny scenes. The best part for me was they included ancient Athens. It's one of the few movies that you can hear ancient Greek on the cinema and you can admire the Acropolis on its early days.

If you have watched the first movie, keep in mind its budget was 10.000 euro and the second one's is 100.000 euro.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS for the fact that when they were in Ancient Greece the spoke ANCIENT Greek! How am i supposed to follow a film when Alexander the Great instead of speaking Ancient Greek speaks English? This movie contains many laughs, many laughs with catchy phrases in Ancient Greek, or in Modern Greek and a lot of splatter laughs. So this is what this movie is about, SPLATTER COMEDY! You are not supposed to be frightened. The direction is awesome, fast camera, zoom-in and zoom-out many times makes your eyes stuck into the screen. The visual effects are very real, Ancient Athens looked very real and i loved seeing the Parthenon on the background. The plot was a bit shallow but who cares? This movie is a splatter comedy/parody and it's a fantastic one. From the fight scenes in Ancient Greece where a fighter licked the sword to the point where Kleanthis smashed a head with his hand. Absolute must-see for a marvelous comedy with tons of blood and many zombies!!! p.s. Billy Zane thanks for speaking Ancient Greek, for a real Greek you should be proud! p.s. 2 No actor (including Zane) and no zombie (i also was a volunteer zombie) took ANY money for this film!

This sequel of the 2005 movie has the same purpose as the first one:It's there to entertain,it's not a horror film it's a zombie parody, a Greek everyday parody, an ancient Greek parody.

When I saw this, everyone was laughing in the theater. It's a FUN movie, gore is everywhere in a ridicule way, heads are popping in the screen all the time, the lines are simple but quite entertaining with pop culture references flying all the way,we see zombies in mantles and tunics ,the scenario is 100% predictable but really, who cares?

-Don't see it if you want to feel horror emotions

-Don't see it if you want to see any depth in scenario /character development.

-Don't see it if you want to see any Hollywood-like effects.

-Don't see it if you want to see astonishing actors and act

But I highly recommend it to any (Greek) that wants to have 88 really awesome minutes.

The visual effects are good for Greek standards ,bit comic like deaths, but you can see the increase in budget to the first movie

Argyris Thanasoulas (Argyris) and Antreas Kontopoulos ( Lt.Vakyrtis) are the only notable actors that play above average, the rest (big crew) is mediocre at best.

The story begins on the end of the First ''Kako'' movie. The survivors meet up with a group of other barricaded survivors and they not only need to take care of the zombies but other random Greek that have taken advantage of the chaos and shoot random moving targets (zombie or not). In the meantime we take small flashbacks into ancient Greece where the zombie apocalypse has happened as well and we learned about how they faced them.

In my opinion this is the way Greek cinema should move on. We will never have the CGI or the scenario background or the huge budgets to go face to face with international movies,so we rather parody them.

As for foreign people ,you might get a DVD release of this sooner or later in the US,I'd only suggest you if you really want to see every zombie movie out there since the Greek jokes and culture references might not touch you.

I did go into this expecting to be frightened and instead I found it to be absolutely hilarious- but that's not a bad thing! The characters are funny, if a little shallow, but this is a horror movie so what do you really expect? The film even plays on the stupidity of the horror movie plot conventions (especially relevant to Zombie films) and the characters therein by making no effort to hide the ridiculousness of their survival, adventures and the plot line in general.

I'm not Greek, as I realise some of you other reviewers are, I'm British and I still thought it was fantastic; I saw it at Edinburgh film festival where a respectable crowd watched it laughing in unison at the funny bits and clapping at the end. For such a low budget film it was great, I don't really know what people expect a low budget film to be able to do with 'Hollywood Effects', they cost an arm and a leg and often are just as silly if not worse than this film achieves.

Sure the plot was unlikely, the effects were questionable, but all in all it was funny, entertaining and I was more than happy to suspend my disbelief and just enjoy this bloody brilliant little film from a country only making around 30 films a year!(numbers given by the film's director who did a little talk and was a funny man himself) I would fully recommend this as a comedy-horror film.

Firstly i'm sorry for my poor English, i'm Greek and i'll try my best to be understood..

well, i am an average movie fan and i rarely watch Greek movies.. nevertheless i saw this movie about an hour ago and i want to see it again and again.. it isn't, of course, the kind of movie that will be remembered as brilliant or even as clever (i'm referring to the plot) but it's a fun movie.. and i mean FUN, like "big troubles in little china" or "pineapple express".. cool dialogs (i don't know how they look in English subs), cool action and gore scenes, weird & funny heroes, almost no plot at all. i like the special effects too... really.. they look like special effects from 90's movies and that's part of the fun too. the director does a good job focusing on the fun side of killing zombies and that means no drama, no fear for the heroes' lives, no atmospheric scenes.

in comparison with the rest Greek movies, which mostly are unfunny comedies or romances or the kind of movies that critics love but they are impossible to be understood by the average viewer, TO KAKO STIN EPOHI TON IROON is far more watchable.. personally my favorite Greek movie of the decade.

I was lucky enough to see "Evil in the time of heroes" during our local film festival, and honestly didn't know what to expect. The only words I was given were "Billy Zane" and "Zombies". I was immediately sold, but what I actually saw was just so much more.

This is actually a sequel. The original "Evil" was a very low budget horror which is fairly unknown. The sequel totally betrays this though, as the quality of imagery and effects is substantial. The gore, as well as the special effects are fantastic, and highly entertaining. The characters and story are well fleshed out, and quite often there are complete "wtf" moments thrown in for good measure. This would often detract from other films, but in this film they are so poignantly placed that they only serve to make you laugh like a fool.

Needless to say, the concept revolves around a set of strangers brought together under the duress of a Zombie attack. Set in Athens, immediately we are thrown into the action, and into the hilarity. The characters each have very unique personalities and the acting is brilliant. From the over the top style of Vakirtzis the marine, to the stoic reticence of Meletis, they each are endearing and wholly likable.

The story even does something new with the zombie genre! This is surprising enough being that it's almost impossible to do, but certainly the whole film switches back and forth 1000 years, between the men of ancient Greece fighting the zombies, and modern day with our haphazard heroes.

In short, go see this film. Once it comes out on DVD? Buy it. These are the kinds of films that need to be supported. It's new, it's fresh and it's unspeakably funny. Even though it is a Greek language film, the comedy is universal, and hilarious.

I absolutely respect that the filmmakers did a fine job with the budget that they had, and its very clear that everybody involved had a great time making this movie. And you know what? Good on them! I'm glad they took something so ridiculous and cheesy and just ran with it, having a blast along the way; but this film is surely not for everyone and in the end wasn't for me. In many regards it is clear that "Evil in the Time of Heroes" was simply meant to entertain, and to a degree it certainly succeeded. I laughed and gasped and had a half-decent time (not a stellar/memorable time mind you). However, when all is said and done I found this particular venture into the realm of ridiculous horror was too stylized and ambitious for its own good.

For starters, I think it can be easily argued that "Evil in the Time of Heroes" works as an experimental film more than anything and as such I can honestly say you will more than likely hate this experience if you are not familiar with this type of filmmaking. This film is literally all over the place. It jumps back and forth between modern times to ancient times, between current events to hours/days/minutes/seconds ago, and after a certain point it just becomes clear that the film doesn't really know when or where it needs to focus and truly doesn't care. This is fine to an extent, but it also becomes slightly frustrating and eventually grows stale.

As such, "Evil in the Time of Heroes" is a definitive example of the hand-held shakiness, quick cutting, fast paced, bizarre camera angles, seemingly direction-less style which seems to pop up every once in a while (even in mainstream cinema like with "Crank" and "Crank 2: High Voltage"... only amplified).

Furthermore, it becomes clear that one may not even be able to fully appreciate the themes and jokes without some understanding of Greek history and modern life in Athens. Of course there is a large degree of slapstick humour, situational comedy, and an overall absurd awkwardness which can be enjoyed by all. And I certainly valued those aspects. But the completely random pacing of the film, coupled with the preposterous actions its characters take and the bizarre situations that occur, are sometimes a little too much to choke down.

So take this review as a little forewarning on what to expect. "Evil in the Time of Heroes" is NOT your typical horror-comedy along the lines of "Shaun of the Dead", "Dead Alive", "Night of the Creeps", "Re-Animator", "Return of the Living Dead" etc. It is something entirely different... ABSURDLY different. With this in mind, perhaps you will enjoy the film for what it is!

"To kako - Stin epohi ton iroon" is the second movie of "To kako" and in my opinion this movie is better than the first because it has many ancient dialogs between the actors who actually speaks ancient Greek and that was something which none expected to see. Again we have a big cast of actors who are popular in Greece and some of them and abroad.

This movie starts from the last movie's end. These people who survived from the zombies have now to do their best to survive not only from them but also from some people who got crazy and kill them all for no reason. Finally the thing that I liked the most in this movie was the connection between the ancient Athens and Athens now days and how this connection will play a key role to the evolution of the movie.

The movie is simply wonderful. And as humour is indeed universal, I don't see why the film should refer only to the Greek Public.

Amazingly funny, I would characterize it as something in between Shaun of the Dead, Doghause, Brain Dead, Evil Dead and...300! The story is not bad at all, the actors often perform great (keep in mind the movies I mentioned as point of reference), photography is astonishing, camera from wonderful angles gives colour. The effects more than enough in my opinion. Clever gigs here and there, make the movie watchable a second time just to spot all the little details.

In short I don't see why I should watch all the recent Romero's, supposingly scary, supposingly funny Zombie second trilogy, instead of making better use of my time watching a rare gem coming out of nowhere! 10 out of 10 without even a second thought! P.S the first evil was good but no comparison between the two

This is splatter/comedy for a very select audience, with a lot of inside jokes and tastelessly absurd gore, but very little substance and style. This is a sequel to "Evil", a zero-budgeted amateur zombie movie that came out in 2005 and unexpectedly grew out to become a modest cult hit. The budget for the sequel was much higher, but apparently all the cast members were volunteers. "Evil in the Time of Heroes" implements a bizarre and unappealing narrative structure that constantly jumps back and forth between Athens in ancient times and present day. In both eras, the place is infested with zombies and only a small handful of people (courageous warriors in the past and random losers in the present) remain and battle for survival. Out of nowhere Billy Zane ("Titanic", "Dead Calm") shows up as some kind of prophet slash Jedi Master and he shepherds the pack of undisciplined survivors in their fight against the living dead. How about that? Billy Zane speaks Greek and appears in a crap horror movie for free? The make-up effects are often splendid and the film contains numerous very creative killings sequences, but the lack of subject matter and character development quickly gets on your nerves. The whole thing is hectic, very incoherent and desperately tries to appeal to the comic book fanatics. This is fun & relaxing for about ten minutes, but what remains is a completely immature and easily forgettable "just- another-zombie-comedy"

A sequel to the way, way better 2005 film, Evil In The Time Of Heroes is, sadly, a mess on every level. Previous reviewers have said this is a Greek film for Greeks! And I am sure in the original language the characters and situations have far more resonance. But nothing can disguise the fact that in terms of what matter; story, script, characters, development, direction and, well, everything that goes into a film, this production got away from all those concerned and, at best, looks like it's being made up and improvised as it goes along.

Now this isn't necessarily a bad thing, because let's-do-the-show-right-here can still have its charms. But for Evil In The Time Of Heroes this doesn't apply because the film is so confusing in terms of narrative and continuity it's impossible to figure out hows and whys. Historical flashbacks, featuring Billy Zane (I think a sad effort to throw in a 'name' after everything else has failed) try to make sense of what's going on but serve only to add more confusion.

Okay, so the story makes no sense but there's always the acting, right? Not in this case! This is one of those films best viewed with your eyes closed! But maybe these people are big in Greece and household names, so who knows? In any event, there is every Greek stereotype on display here, but since that's the Greeks poking fun at themselves I've no beef with that.

To end on a positive note: I really do respect anyone who makes a film and Evil In The Time Of Heroes makes a real effort. Unfortunately it doesn't go anywhere. If the film makers return to their roots, examine how and why the 2005 film works and this bigger-budgeted one doesn't, then here's all success to their third outing.

The first movie was really good. Even though the special effects were terrible, it had everything a good Zom-B-Movie needed: action, fun lines, great characters.

Having seen the trailer of this sequel and understanding a few things about the storyline, also knowing that they had a better budget this time (having Billy Zein sure wasn't for free) left me with huge expectations on this one. Too bad they were never met.

The idea was cool but the script was terrible. Bad lines, mostly cursing whenever they could not find a good line to use. Some of the acting was still bad, I liked the character of the father of the taxi driver though. Fun Greek dude. The punk could be a good additional character, however he was nothing but a regular boring character with punk clothing and appearance.

I had to pause the movie multiple times for a break though as it had large moments where it was uninteresting (or should I say boring?) The action was definitely missing. Lame love stories and chasing bad guys instead of zombies to a post apocalyptic Athens...

The special effects were somehow improved but I was still disappointed from the zombie killings. No inspiration, they were just penetrating the zombie heads with everything you can imagine: sticks, bones, cut off hands, shoes whatever!! Seriously guys, I know its a fiction movie, but how could anyone pierce a scull with minimum effort and a 'weapon' like that? I'm surprised they did not kill any zombies by cutting open their heads by hitting them with a raw egg or something...

Overall, it seems to me like if the script was written overnight and the movie shot within 2 days (but it wasn't!)

Picking up where the first film left off, the survivors are now on a race against time to defeat the evil that has trapped Athens before international forces drop the bomb that will destroy them all...

The first film probably should have ended where it did without this follow-up. While I appreciate the attempt to explain the evil's origin, the introduction of the world outside Greece... and the presence of Billy Zane (who either speaks Greek or has a person who does voiceovers with his tone perfectly), it just cannot compare to the first film.

The effects are cheaper, the plot is thinner (which is a bold claim for a zombie film)... and overall it was just not as fun. The increased supernatural elements were a big turn-off. I liked the introduction of militant groups that take advantage of the chaos, but they did not have time to be developed and I have no idea what their motives or anything were. Perhaps they had none?

Worth watching? Not so much, but maybe if you really need to see who survived the first film and how...

This is by far one of the worst movies i have ever seen. The plot is virtually non-existent. I don't know what the producers were thinking about this movie. Zombies in modern and ancient Athens??Billy Zane playing a WoWish rogue-alike prophet??It looked like a cheap comedy version of "dawn of the dead" combined with "300" with the stupidest scenario ever.Characters are weak, lead acting sucks and the visual effects are not nearly as "hollywoodish" as the producers would like them to be. The only scene to laugh is the Tsimitselis scene and two or more others in the whole movie. Bottom line, i wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Complete waste of money!

Ι have seen tons of Zombie flicks, big budget, low budget, no budget at all etc.

"To Kako 2" is by far one of the most annoying movies of the genre. I understand that the second movie moved fast forward to a straight up comedy (the first one had balance and it was really really entertaining) but instead of being funny, its just plain annoying. As for the plot is a total mess. The whole go to past and come back to the present is done in a way to get to your nerves. Bottom line the whole script is like a cut and paste of various ideas thrown around and not single one of them is presented like it should. Too bad that the people responsible for the good first movie (Kako) managed to killed their own creation with the second one. The only good thing in this movie is only the gore factor. But gore cant save a z-film if the story who keeps it interesting belongs to the bottom of the toilet.

Too bad that one of the most annoying z-movies ever made comes from Greece.

I wonder how the Greek Cinema Centre (belongs to the state) and Audiovisual (major distributor company in Greece) decided to finance this total mess.

After buying this film, I was dismayed to learn it was sold on dvd-rs. After trying the disc, I learned I was sold the wrong product. No fun splatter gore film for me. Instead I got a disc containing some kind of inspirational college courses. I cannot comment on the merit of the film, obviously, but I can however state that DoppleGanger Films are scam artists, and I wouldn't recommend purchasing anything from them. I will NOT be seeking this film out again, apologies to the filmmakers, but maybe handle your business a bit better next time?
