When one of the Chinese agents hold a teddy bear in front of Bart in revenge for ripping them off, Bart questions the use of a teddy bear as a weapon. The agent responds that it was made in China and rips off its head to reveal a spike. The other agents take out similar objects. This is a reference to the 2007 Chinese export recalls.

The episode's name is a reference to God the Father.

Bart's dream about being chained to a rock with bald eagle ripping out his heart parodies the myth of Prometheus.

Homer The Father is a terrific Simpsons episode with a well thought out storyline and a ton of very funny scenes. It is very cleverly written and makes several jokes than you wouldn't expect from the Simpsons, like the many parodies of eighties sitcoms and James Lipton's appearance at the end ,it is certainly one of the funniest episodes of the twenty second season. The Chinese people that Bart gets involved wit were also very funny and delivered several very memorable lines.Homer the Father is a very enjoyable Simpsons episode.

Homer becomes obsessed with an old sitcom called Thicker Than Waters which teaches him to be a better father and he decides to stop strangling Bart and just use his mouth when he's angry, which brings the two closer.Meanwhile Bart really wants to get a new bike but Homer says that he won't get it for him until he starts to behave better.Bart starts working for a terrorist organisation by stealing nuclear power from the plant so that they will pay him enough money so he can buy that bike.
