The final shot was filmed at normal speed, requiring lead Chad Laurie to sit motionless for over 45 minutes. The sequence was then sped up 256 times to yield about 9 seconds of workable footage.
In one scene, Chad Laurie's character emerges from the surface of a lake. A week after filming the scene, Laurie learned that the lake was condemned by the the EPA for massive fungal contamination.
