Sanders Sides The Sanders Sides 12 Days of Christmas (2016– ) Online

The Sanders Sides appear on Thomas because they feel in the mood for doing a video, and since it's Christmas Eve, and it's the first Christmas that Virgil spends with the rest of his new friends, Roman suggests that the four of them should wear festive Christmas "ugly sweaters" and perform a Christmas carol together. But they don't agree very much on the lyrics that Roman has written for them, especially Virgil.
Episode cast overview:
Thomas Sanders Thomas Sanders - Logan 'Logic' / Roman 'Creativity' / Patton 'Morality' / Virgil 'Anxiety' / Thomas

First time the four Sanders Sides appear together on the same shot, thanks to the use of green screen.

As Logan's sweater had the collar, cuffs and part of the chest colored in green, he had to wear a black scarf to cover the collar and chest, and roll up his sleeves to hide them so that they wouldn't become transparent holes on the green screen montage.

The phrase that Virgil writes on the card he gives Patton as a Secret Santa gift is one of the earliest "Misleading Compliments" from the Sanders Shorts (2013) series, exactly the one published on 24 June 2013, Sanders Shorts: Misleading Compliment: You Make Me Wanna Die (2013), which was the second installment of the "Misleading Compliments" series.

The Christmas carol the Sanders Sides sing, both the "original" lyrics as written by Roman and the lyrics made up on the fly by Patton and Logan, is full of subtle references to many moments of all the previous episodes of "Sanders Sides". The only line that didn't reference anything at all was the line that Virgil repeatedly refused to sing until the end, which, at the others insistence, Roman changed by another line that did make reference to another moment of "Sanders Sides".

Some of the references that appear in the Christmas song are as follow:

  • "An emo who's now our best friend" is a reference to Virgil joining the other Sanders Sides at the end of "Accepting Anxiety Part 2".
  • "Two two-part vids" are the two episodes in two parts until then, "Accepting Anxiety" and "Moving On".
  • "Three small dogs" are the three little dogs that appeared at the end of "Moving On Part 2".
  • "Four make-overs" refers to the change of costumes that happened at the end of "Fitting In".
  • "Five name reveals" refers to the moments the Sanders Sides revealed their real names, oddly including Thomas when he introduced himself at the beginning of the series.
  • "Seven slights at Virgil" refers to the number of different insults Roman has thrown at Virgil on past episodes.
  • "Nine Patton punch lines" refers to the number of dad jokes thrown by Patton on past episodes.
  • "Ten tie adjustments" refers to the number of times Logan adjusts his tie on past episodes.
  • "Eleven lit vocab cards": refers to the number of times Logan has used his vocab cards on past episodes.
  • "Twelve mushy moments": is a reference to Patton's mushy vision when starting a project as he calls it in "Losing My Motivation".
  • "Five Crofter's Jams" refers to the number of times the name "Crofter's" was uttered in "Fitting In".
  • "Five ruined kid films": is a reference to mentioning dark and misleading messages of Disney movies in "The Dark Side of Disney".
  • "Five second cookies" is a reference to "My Personality Q&A", where Patton said he ate "a second cookie" when he felt "dangerous".
  • "Eleven fire slang words": Logan says this while dabbing, which is a reference to "Growing Up", where he also dabbed.
  • Logan rapping "two two-part vids" is a reference to him rapping in "Am I Original?"
  • One of the times Virgil refuses to sing, he says "I'd really just duck out", and Patton answers "Quack!". In "Accepting Anxiety Part 2", Virgil explains that he decided to quit his job as Thomas' anxiety by saying "I decided to duck out" and Patton equally answered "Quack!".

At one moment at the beginning, when Patton yells "Yeah!" and rises his hand, there appear's to be a glitch where Patton's movement happens in three frozen frames. This in fact was an intended effect, as Thomas Sanders wanted Patton to look like a character from a Lego movie.

When Roman conjures a marker and writes a new line for Virgil to sing, he uses his right hand to write. Thomas Sanders is left handed in real life.
