The Pussycat Preacher (2008) Online

Lovable x-stripper turned evangelist, Heather Veitch starts a ministry to help women in the sex industry. Her mission of love persuades a young Christian pastor and a few women from her church to join her. Heather calls her group JC's Girls and starts taking the team to strip clubs and porn conventions to reach out to lap dancers, hookers, and porn queens. Ironically, the sex industry welcomes JC's Girls, but powerful forces in the Christian church refuse to tolerate Heather's "immoral ministry." Heather receives hate mail and death threats accusing her of "prostituting the Gospel." But she refuses to back down, setting the stage for a climactic showdown that threatens to bring down her pastor and his church!

I just saw this film at the Cinequest film festival by accident. The film printed in the guide was pulled from the schedule and this film - which got late entry replaced it. I was so angry at first, I almost left. But then Heather Veitch came on the screen and I was hooked, What an amazing women she is. Without giving away too much, she's an x-stripper who still looks like a stripper but no longer strips. Instead, she has found religion and now works as a missionary to help other women still in the strip clubs. She looks exactly like you would expect with blonde hair, big blue eyes, and a great body. But she's not just some dumb blonde. This girl is smart, funny, and passionate about what she does. The real deal. What is interesting about her story is not so much her ministry to strippers, but her battle with the Christian Church to let these girls (including herself) in the door. What an amazing story. I was so blown away by it, I signed up on three web pages just so I could talk about it. Never have I seen a better philosophical question thrown on the doorstep of Christianity! If god loves us all, as most Christians proclaim, then why is it, some sinners find more welcome in the church than others? It is a delicious treat to watch who stands and who sits in this debate. This film is certain to become a classic. Bravo - a star is born.

This is a very enjoyable and empowering piece of film ... it shows what positive energy can be set free if the right people decide to pursue a goal that they unconditionally believe in. The sense of belief and faith is very tangible and truly amazing for an agnostic like me.

It's also a great peek into the hypocrisy of the 'traditional' church that puts so much emphasis on conformity as opposed to just accepting a person as she is.

The film-making is very solid and style, editing and sound work extremely well to emphasize the subject. All in all the best documentary I've seen in a long time, well, maybe with the exception of 'King of Kong' :).
