A sermon is here shown on the screen. It set forth the hypocrisy of a minister who loves his outward whitened walls, more than the inward sweetness of human love. He had admonished his neighbor for severity toward children, but is coldly and wantonly severe with his own daughter, who deserves only praise, severe even to turning her out into the world. The story is told very plainly. Even the talented actress who played the heroine seemed more anxious to make the text clear than to show the emotional content of the situation. It is an effective picture, our only comment being that the subject wasn't the best kind for a photoplay. - The Moving Picture World, May 20, 1911
