Outlaws rob the Laramie bank but one of them is shot and killed by the sheriff during the chase. The outlaw is riding a palomino horse with the Sherman Ranch brand so the sheriff returns the horse to Slim Sherman, hoping that Slim can identify the outlaw. Since the palomino, Cyclone, was stolen the year before Slim can't help. The arrival of Cyclone causes problems between Slim and his brother Andy when the high strung animal starts breaking fences and harassing the other Sherman horses. When Slim threatens to get rid of Cyclone, Andy takes Cyclone and runs away, only to find himself out of the frying pan and into the fire, first being injured in a windstorm and then getting rescued by the outlaws who robbed the bank.
