On the hunt for a stray mustang that that John Smith picked up as a horse for young Dennis Holmes, Smith gets in the middle of a feud between Frank Overton patriarch of a high country dwelling group of settlers and cattle baron Barton MacLane.

Of course it would be no feud if Overton and his crew believed in things like filing claims, but they look like a group that doesn't like to deal with bureaucracy. In any event there they are MacLane is looking for feed for his herd.

In the end Overton does MacLane a priceless favor and that settles that. Good story especially in the performances of MacLane and Overton.
