An old man is making preparations to go on a journey, and his beautiful wife is assisting and hurrying him out of the way, for she is expecting her lover. As the old fellow steps out of the room the lover arrives, and the wife hides him under the table till the coast is clear. The old fellow makes to depart, but from the look on his wife's face he sees that there is something on her mind, and becomes suspicious. He gets outside of the room and makes a noise with his feet to mislead her and make her think that he has gone downstairs, but instead he peers through the keyhole and, to his horror, sees his wife and the other man greet each other very affectionately. He decides upon a scheme whereby he will catch the two unawares and have revenge. He hastens to the street and spies a ladder belonging to a sign painter, and going over, he takes it and leans it against his house and is about to climb into his window when the owner of the ladder and a couple of policemen come along, and after ...
