The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Amazing Orchestras.

The movie is based on the true story that actually happened in Shandong Province. Ostensibly, it appears to be a political propaganda in that it eulogize the achievement of the reform which improved the lives of peasants, who had extra cash to organize orchestras after making enough money to support their families.

However, the hidden theme behind the mask of political propaganda is actually the social criticism on the governmental only concentrated on economical development while ignoring the spiritual development, and this is something not easily seen.
