Mac dashes out of a taxi to run and jump onto the rain to Rashmir with proof about illegal arms trade in the Indian subcontinent. Alas the train is hijacked in tribal 'bandit country' by local men who consider it a matter of justice to find and execute two criminals. Mac gets the train out, but they catch up at the bridge Hassan's other band of villagers blows up. In order to prevent fellow Western passenger-hostages starving, Mac and the others must identify the two Anglo-Saxon businessmen who sold the village dispensary poison instead of medicines; an escape attempt and a luggage search fail, but Mac improvises a lie-detector. Meanwhile some of them deal with their halted lives and reconsider their past and future...
