A doctor creates a new sea life form that then turns into a giant that then fires lightning bolts at Seaview sending her to the bottom.

I like the way this episode begins as we are in the thick of the action right from the word go, unlike the recent Haunted Submarine where it was the final frame of act one before the enemy appeared. The Creature episode contains some of the best use of colour I have ever seen in an Irwin Allen production, and Irwin shows used colour really well so that comment is really saying something! This colourful "Creature" is also just an all-round great looking monster and the bit where it fires a lightning bolt at the Seaview is one of season three's finest moments!

But having said all that, this is another invasion-of-the body-snatchers/disaster show and year two's Monster From Outer Space and year three's Monster From The Inferno did that theme a little better as those two hours featured great dialogue that really appealed to me a lot. There is not a word in The Creature episode this is memorable. Adding to this, The Creature episode has an uncomfortable view on the taking of human life that leaves a bad taste in the mouth after watching it.

But all in all, an hour with a great start, great colour and a great monster...I will give this seven out of ten.

This episode is really really scary. It's so scary it was kind of hard to watch it again to write this detailed review that I know you're so interested in reading.

Here's the plot; (SPOILER!!!!!) a kelp monster attacks the Seaview, but instead of just jumping on the ship or throwing it around it TAKES OVER THE BODIES of the MEN! Then when you look at the infected crewmen long enough, their faces turn into drippy yucky kelp monster faces! It's gross! I had to watch it from behind a couch, which is a pretty big admission coming from a 25 year firefighter and football coach. This episode was so scary I had to go to the bathroom a few times, y'know?

So that's why I gave it a 10. It's maybe the most frightening thing I've ever watched on TV, and you gotta give these guys credit.
