A mother and her bi-racial daughter are abandoned in Texas and left to fend for themselves. When the odds are stacked too high, they lose everything. But Patsy is determined to make a life for her young daughter, Lynn, who is starting to feel hopeless. She finds work at a club. A pretty shady to some, establishment, but to them it is everything.
