Marianella (2006) Online
Here I go: the female college student who refuses to meet or get to know anyone. I'll go to the pub when everyone else goes, perhaps I'll even sit at the same table with them, maybe even have a few beers, a few laughs... except that I know I can't. I don't know what's wrong with me. I thought today would be different, but it isn't. I guess I'll always be known as the shy girl!

For this film shoot, the crew had nothing more than a 16mm reel at their disposal, with a mere 30 meters of film left in it; equivalent to 3 minutes of actual footage. As one can imagine, this essentially forced them to ration everything down to the last second as far as the duration of each shot was concerned. Another bothersome factor was having to shoot without a clapper-board as a way of getting in as many shots as possible.
This is an example of one of director Sergi Rubió's short films, one which contained a single previously recorded song as its' only soundtrack; the volume of which was never tweaked with and such was the case for so many of Rubió's short films which similarly opted for a sole soundtrack. This basic tendency would last until the 2006 and it wasn't until the 2012 when he began to explore the possibility of going back and actually changing the soundtracks to his various films.
After Mohamed (2001), the film shoot for this short feature laid the scene for a re encounter on the part of Sergi Rubió with an old and dear friend: the actress Lavinia Hervás.
Sergi Rubió chose not to hold a public screening of this film as there was a spelling mistake in the last credit of the film. Two months went by before an editor had time to correct this small and at the same time large detail, undoubtedly considered as such by the director.
