After being defeated by Lagherta´s army, Ivar and Hvitserk ask for help to Rollo that sends an army to help them. Bjorn visits his brothers expecting to make a deal but Ivar rejects to discuss. Bishop Heahmund has an encounter with Lagherta and offers to fight with her army. Meanwhile Floki faces problems with the settlers.

"A Simple Story" is a non-engaging episode of "Viking". Floki´s segment is pointless and Rollo´s participation sending an army to help Hvitserk and Ivar instead of Bjorn is senseless. My vote is seven.

The battle does not continue and that is to be expected, they need to regroup and prepare. There is ALOT going on, Ivar and Harald gain support from the Franks now and the final battle will hopefully be epic! Floke and Kjetil must deal with Eivind, but Floke does not want to turn to violence, after the ending scene however.... anything can happen! The most shocking thing in this episode was Aethelwulf's death, some view it as bad writing, but being stung by a bee is deadly if you are allergic, even today! It was very unexpected, but you could tell that Aethelwulf knew right away what was gonna happen after he got stung. Not all deaths have to be meaningful, it adds realism to the series. I cannot wait for the final episode of Season 5A and to see Ivar and Bishop Heahmund going up against eachother. Truly, this battle can go either way! Alfred is also king now, so season 5B will be spectacular.

Whilst I know this is a drama loosely based on english and norse history and most of the story of Ragnar and his sons is lost in legend, the history of Wessex is based in fact. It is fact that Alfred only ascended to the throne after the death of his brother Aethelred (in fact 3 brothers preceded him!). So I can't believe how the writers of this can take such a liberty as to wipe out the existence of King Aethelred the first! Yes some things have to change to fit the drama but come on, losing a king is a step too far. At least "The Last Kingdom" got it right!????

I did not like how they speed this episode up , anyway i did like it even less when rollo did not show up with the frankish soldiers , it was a an episode that could have been speeded up into 0 episodes nothing happened .

Well, I prefer this episode to the previous one actually, but all storylines felt rush and don't make that much sense, well the only one that is good is about england, finally something interesting again, and that alfred, the character and the actor could be great! Rollo deciding to help the sons of ragnar, well, whithout explanation let's say it's pointless. Heahmund, well, pointless, or maybe the fact is that he could bring england to fight alongside lagertha? and then vikings would have been the bridge to confrontation between French and English later on... we'll see. Floki, it is interesting, but... Vikings became a serie about History that developps along episodes, explaining many things that happened and why, okay.. but it feels like michael hirst is lost, i'm sure he's got a plan in the end, but he seems to be struggling the developpement in between. This series shows the story of vikings, but it feels less and less interesting, due to the characters development that is going everywhere and nowhere in the meantime, but without thrilling

The only reason to watch this is for the comedy of how Aethelwulf dies. His puffy face, and the dialogue can't be taken seriously. This actor is ok, not great, he followed direction.

Hvitserk has a great idea. He'll ask Rollo for help. So, we sit and wait for the great Roll. 2 minutes later Hvitserk is back, not with Rollo but with Rollo's soldiers. This alone makes this episode a 1 star. What kind of crap is that? And why would Rollo help Ivar, and not Bjorn and Lagertha? This is a joke. So basically, the victory that Bjorn won last week is for nothing.

Floki story. It was good that the idiot got killed. We need to see Floki messing some people up. Enough with the flower people.

Heahmund? This guy is a whore for battle.

The production is great. But these actors cannot handle drama. I hate soap opera, but sometimes we need some drama. Let's get back to some battles.

I am glad that Rollo is back again, and saddened by the way King Etheloff dies, what does the priest want from a Lagretha?

Never have i seen and episode so badly written with an idiotic plot like this one. But man the abomination that is Etheloff's wife truely is the last straw. This character made me quit the show. There is no more reason to anything that happens. Just soap opera.
