One year ago, a Jane Doe underwent surgery at County Hospital for seizures, and fell into a coma in the process. She was placed in a room with three other patients in long term comas. Now, simultaneously the three other patients flat-line and die at the same time, while Jane emerges from her coma, albeit still with no memory of who she is. But as Carolyn, Zed and Janel question her, she does seem to have memories, but of the other three patients. One theory that Carolyn does not believe is that Jane's subconscious self could have absorbed the information of what was mentioned in the room specifically by those people who had visited the other three patients during the year Jane was housed in the room. As Carolyn, Zed and Janel question those visitors, a few unaccountable stories emerge, one about a gift that Jane knows she received of a toy bear, and a later story Jane recounts from the day she was in the operating room.
