Since the 1970s, Western feminists have redefined rape to such an absurd degree that now any time a man has sex with a willing female who has had a drink or two he is in peril of being accused of rape. The latest piece of nonsense is the power dynamic, something pioneered by the odious Catherine MacKinnon back in the 1970s. That being said, rape still exists, and if ever rape culture existed, it was and sadly still is in Ethiopia where instead of sending a girl flowers a suitor kidnaps her and rapes her until she becomes pregnant. No, this is not a sick joke, but a reality. When this documentary was made in 2000, this cultural obscenity was very much in the news.

To follow it properly you will need to read subtitles, but this is a fairly straightforward account of the experience of one girl who killed her kidnapper/rapist and was eventually acquitted by a legally constituted court although subsequently banished by the community. To paraphase Groucho Marx, I wouldn't want to live in a village that wouldn't have me as a member.
