I really should do what Michael Elliott does and review five Edison movies in one go because writing a ten line review about a film that lasts approximately one minute is damn near impossible unless you start waffling and wandering off topic.

Anyway, this short from Edison is nothing to write home about. It's shot from quite a distance so there isn't that much detail to make out. The shot composition is fairly good though, and there's plenty going on even if it isn't too clear. I can't help thinking that Edison's cameramen were really just going through the motions and using a minimum amount of imagination when capturing their shots.

Asia in America, St. Louis Exposition (1904)

Edison short showing Asian's putting on a parade.

Albany, NY Fire Department (1901)

Edison short shows the Albany Fire Department answering a call and racing to the scene. The best thing about this film is the crowd who seem to be more interested in the movie camera rather than the actual fire.

Annual Baby Parade, Asbury Park, NJ (1904)

Edison short showing just what the title says, although there aren't any babies but instead small kids dressed as soldiers.

Annual Parade, New York Fire Department (1904)

Another Edison short with the title telling you all you need to know. Directed by Edwin S. Porter.

Armour's Electric Trolley (1897)

Edison short showing off the Erie Railroad.
