This episode is based on an actual case, the murder of Linda Sobek. The case was solved by Elizabeth Devine who is the consulting producer of the show and a former CSI.

Actor Edmund Wyson plays a character named "Officer Devine, who is presumably named after Elizabeth Devine, the consulting producer of the series who not only co-wrote the episode but who, when she was an actual CSI, solved the case upon which "After The Show" is based.

The Linda Sobek case, which this episode is based on, inspired Anthony Zuiker to create CSI.
