Golden freddi

When Slim Summerville's chickens get Zasu Pitt fired from her job, she buys a home and takes her obnoxious nephew -- played to perfection by Mickey Rooney -- to the middle of the desert, where she discovers that Slim Summerville has also bought the dilapidated property.

Miss Pitts and Mr. Summerville were a very popular screen couple, starring in a dozen comedies for Universal and Roach. With their easily remembered profiles and gags -- the Fleischer's version of Olive Oyl was modeled on her and his hangdog expression enlivened many a comedy and straight movie from Keystone through MGM -- they were always good.

They're good in their comedy bits here, even though the movie as a whole isn't much to write home about. Still, if you're fans of the two, you'll want to see this one.
