Low Budget (2005) Online

When wannabe L.A. filmmakers Jaye and Jason are accidentally hired to produce a travel show about Canada, they seize the opportunity and divert the money to make their dream project: a sci-fi epic entitled "Invasion Q." Along the way, they meet a young Canadian actress named Josée who falls for their Hollywood image and believes that this will be her big break. "Low Budget" documents the J's extraordinary journey across Canada, showing how stupidity can triumph over common sense every step of the way. Never has the world of independent films been portrayed with such honesty, artistic license and contradiction.

Due to the improvisational nature of the shoot, there were over 60 hours of footage that had to be edited down to the current runtime of 83 minutes.

Principal photography lasted two weeks, but there were two days of additional photography two months later and six days of re-shoots and new scenes six months later.

This is a really cool low budget (pun intended) movie about low budget film making. It follows two not so smart wanna be film makers, trying to make the film that might make or break them, by diverting funds from a travel show they were accidentally hired to produce. The mock travels to many different Canadian landscapes, which adds to the visuals. There are a few slow moments in the film, but the two leads (Pat and Neil) do really good job of bouncing the comedy back and forth off each other keeping the flow and keeping you interested. It seems like the casting was done perfectly, in terms of chemistry between the actors and most definitely the director. I read that director had 60 hours of footage to cut through, I would really like to see some of the footage they couldn't put in the film. The concept of the film is entertaining to watch, especially if you don't no much about the indie world. Over all I would recommend viewing this movie....you will laugh your bum off.
