An emotional time is at hand as the seaQuest's tour of duty comes to an end; Chief Crocker faces his retirement and the end of his marriage, Commanders Ford and Hitchcock are offered the same command, and Captain Bridger and Dr. Westphalen begin a romantic relationship. Most emotional of all is Lucas who realizes that his father is hardly a part of his life anymore. However, when the Earth's crust begins to crack open underneath his father's power plant, the world is threatened by an unstoppable rise in ocean temperature which will melt the polar caps. HIGHER POWER is the season climax of SEAQUEST DSV, but it feels very much like an ordinary 'filler' episode. Much of the running time is bogged down by character melodrama which really isn't necessary, particularly all of the guff about Lucas and his estranged father. It only becomes moderately exciting during the climax, with Roy Scheider in action-man mode and some cheesy special effects to justify it being the final episode. The story ends with the Seaquest being destroyed, but fear not, this show's popularity meant a second season was to follow.

The last episode of the first season all Seaquest's crew are in ground waiting for a decision of disband the whole project, meanwhile Dr Wolenczac start up a underwater power plant to provide a clean energy to entire world, but suddenly the plate under the plant cracked into a river of lava, so all Seaquest's crew has to running to try saves the members of the plant including this important scientist who is the real Lucas's father, then Captain Nathan has a heroic act trying to save the rescue operation...but like always he escape in last few seconds...Spielberg does it all the time.the primitive special effects spoils the episode.

Probable the last episode that l've seen because the second and third season never came out here in Brazil...unfortunately!!!
