Conrad's story of an old New Year's Eve was completely improvised by the actor Ryan Brownlee.
When Erik first arrives he greets Conrad in German, a reminder of their shared heritage.
The role of Conrad was originally envisioned to be a much older character, but the director adapted the role after casting Peter Campbell.
The two drunks remaining in the bar are crew members.
Agata Waclawska (Celia) did all her own stunts, meaning she had to fall numerous times take after take.
