Billy, on his way to collect a water bill from the grocer, meets Holly, the grocer's daughter, and falls in love with her, unaware of her identity. At the store Billy threatens to turn off the water and the grocer pays up his bill. When Molly appears Billy starts a flirtation. A crowd of Germans approach and the leader, eating a limburger sandwich, imagines that the kisses the girl is throwing are meant for him. Billy places flowers on Molly's window. Dutch sees this and places a sandwich besides the flowers, producing complications when the girl comes after the bouquet. Meanwhile, Billy, in his anxiety to get to Molly, conceals himself in an empty box and is carried into the store. Dutch also conceals himself in a barrel and lands in the store. After the store has closed, they come out and commence fighting. The police are called in by the grocer. Billy plays the hero and is offered anything by the thankful father.
