Kitty Gray is in love with Jack Mason. Silly Billy, the tattler, discovers Bill Smith talking to Kitty. He tells Jack, who breaks off with the girl. Bill finds the girl crying and consoles her. Two cowboys come up, and believing Bill has caused the girl's grief they determine to make Bill marry her. The cowboys get a minister, take Bill to the girl's house and insist on his marrying her. The girl surprises them by saying that she doesn't want to marry him. Jack arrives on the scene. He and the girl make up, and the astonishment of the cowboys is great. They then turn on the tattler who caused the misunderstanding. They take him to the river and throw him over from the bridge into the muddy stream.
