French policeman Louis Daniel now works for the International Criminal Court in The Hague and has put together a team of police officers from across Europe to deal with transnational crimes. He recruits former NYPD Sgt. Carl Hickman who left the force after being shot in the hand and under a cloud of suspicion. They are currently investigating a series of killings that they believe is the work of a serial killer. The first victim was in Rome 7 months ago, followed by similar deaths in Dublin, London and most recently, Paris. They find crucial evidence at the Paris crime scene, including one of the victim's shoes. When Hickman and investigator Anne-Marie San follow-up on the shoe, San goes missing.

I've been looking forward to seeing Crossing Lines, especially when I heard the great Donald Sutherland was one of the major actors. I liked the fact that the pilot was two hours long which gave the viewer a chance to get into the script. I found the pilot to be suspenseful, well written and well acted, that is until the killer was revealed. In my opinion the entire pilot fell apart and was undermined by the inappropriate casting of the killer. The actors in this show was so well cast (no cookie cutter types) that I couldn't believe the stupidity of casting this man as the killer, it ruined the authenticity and suspense of the show, so my 8 stars is for the program itself without the very weak killer.

I am going to watch the second Pilot episode shortly. This first offering gets us a little bit of foundation. We see the prelude to a horrible murder. We are given the fact that the group of international investigators is going to face serious roadblock along the way. That's where Donald Sutherland comes in. We meet Carl Hickman, all full of damage and a hand that doesn't work. I hope it doesn't get too formula. We have a set of superhero types that can combine to solve crimes that are committed across borders. We have a man committed to success, though he is sad and incredibly serious. The first half of the pilot gives us a hook that will seemingly be resolved. Very interesting premise. I hope it works in an adult, sophisticated way.
