One of the running "in jokes" in this reboot of Hawaii Five-0 is the periodic covert and overt references to the t.v. show Magnum (1980). Though not as direct a reference to the latter show as other times, this episode features Larry Manetti, who co-stared in every episode of Magnum P.I.'s eight year run.
Scott Caan (Danny "Danno" Williams), goes out for a pass on the NFL field after missing the Pro Bowl. He had some experience in catching passes as he played Tweeter, a Wide Receiver for the West Canaan Coyotes, in the movie Varsity Blues.
