An unexpected gem! Ex-cop has become a drunk and waster. Content with being unemployed and drinking with his adopted sister's husband. After a heavy session he wakes up in his car outside of town. On driving back he sees an injured girl by the roadside. He takes her to hospital and gets questioned by his ex- cop colleagues. From this point the energy and tension ramp up. He attempts to find out why the girl was injured. He moves into the underworld in which he used to work. Pimps and hitmen are unforgiving but they are up against someone who wants to do the right thing., while fighting his past. The storyline is uncomplicated but intriguing. The acting by all leading protagonists is first class, particularly John Hawkes, the wasted ex-cop. Worth watching!
