Sydney receives a photo of the key to the labyrinth of the Minotaur. Quickly she travels to Greece, where Claudia already went before - and she met Stavros who presented her with nothing less but the key! Stavros, Claudia, Nigel and Sydney enter the labyrinth to find out about the dangers that might still lurk down there and look for a golden ball of string.

This story would have been sufficient to make a full length movie. So much is happening down in the labyrinth, for example, that it needs to be told very condensed in a few minutes on screen. Nevertheless this is an episode above the average. Stavros gets into a conflict with his father Dimitri, who is more interesting as an opponent than the usual treasure hunters of the series. Even for Claudia there is something useful to do, whereas in most previous episodes, I wondered what she was hired for.

1) I have not watched the Relic Hunter series, 2) it's 2017 and I watch Murdoch Mysteries, 3) 15 minutes of this episode, caught in the middle of it, told me it was pretty awful. I am trying to consider the time - produced in 1999, yet the rock walls of the maze reminded me of the crappy fake stones in "Land of the Lost," a show I watched as a child. Terrible acting. I'm just glad Yannick Bisson honed his acting skills and has such a great character now in William Murdoch.

Sydney gets a strange artifact sent from Athens, Greece. As it happens, Claudia is already in Greece doing research for Sydney. Claudia meets and falls for the handsome son of a Greek business tycoon but he was really using her to meet with Sydney about lost Greek artifacts. Even though they tried to explain it away, it makes no sense to have the Minotaur's labyrinth located in Athens. But then if I were keenly interested in logic, I wouldn't like this show. Unfortunately, in this episode, the dumb blond jokes and routines are not funny, only tiresome. Even the temp replacing Claudia while she is in Greece is an airhead. Enough already. That said, the show is elevated by Yannick Bisson as the tycoon's son. He is a very charismatic actor who I most know from the wonderful Murdoch Mysteries series.
