Just as like the previous episode, Žmogus-voras: The Return of Hydro-Man: Part 1 (1997), Peter Parker wears the brown jack and green shirt like the Peter Parker action figure from the toyline based on the show.
This episode features the first appearance of Professor Miles Warren outside of the comics. In the comics, Warren is mostly known as the costumed villain, The Jackal.
When Peter and Mary Jane are walking on the George Washington Bridge to trace back Mary Jane's memories, they both agree that they hate this bridge with Peter mentioning always feeling like something bad is going to happen on it. Soon after they are attacked by Hydro-Man.
Professor Miles Warren is operating out of Green Goblin's underwater lab. It was destroyed at the end of Žmogus-voras: Sins of the Fathers Chapter 4: Enter the Green Goblin (1996), but was brought back for Professor Warrren. Warren's cloning experiments were banned by the government and he used the lab to continue his research in secret on an underground level.
Warren decided to use DNA from Hydro-Man, found at the scene of his demise, to make clones after reading an article in the Daily Bugle that mentioned how Hydro-Man was able to dis-assemble and re-assemble himself.
This episode confirms that Hydro-Man did indeed die on the roof top and the conclusion of his fight with Spider-Man in Žmogus-voras: Neogenic Nightmare Chapter 3: Hydro-Man (1995).
Professor Miles Warren making a clone of Spider-Man/Peter Parker's lost girlfriend after a battle with the Green Goblin is loosely based on "The Amazing Spider-Man" (Vol. 1) #149 ,when the Gwen Stacy clone learns how Professor Miles Warren admired the real Gwen Stacy and decided to clone her after she died.
Mary Jane's nightmare from the previous episode is a repressed memory from when she disappeared. She and Peter discover this after going to Dr. Curt Connors for a hypnosis treatment.
The Mary Jane seen from Žmogus-voras: Partners in Danger Chapter 8: The Return of the Green Goblin (1997) is not the real Mary Jane but actually a clone made at the request of the Hydro-Man clone who loved Mary Jane just as the real Hydro-Man. Professor Miles Warren used DNA from the real Mary Jane and fused the properties of Hydro-Man's cell structure which gave her hydro powers as well. However, just as the clone Hydro-Man had the same emotions as the real one, the Mary Jane clone had her original emotions and loved Peter Parker instead. Also the cloning process wasn't perfected and the Hydro-Man and Mary Jane clones bodies started breaking down, the process just took longer than Professor Warren previous clones.
Near the end of the episode Miles Warren contacted Allistar Smythe to tell Silvermaine, the person revealed to be funding Warren's research, that he needs some repairs to the underwater lab because he might make some startling advances with Spider-Man's DNA. In the comics, one of Miles Warren's Spider-Man clones from the infamous 90's Clone Saga named Spidercide actually had water based powers.
