The show is filmed in Alberta, Canada. Evidence of this can be seen twice in this episode; once with the Big Rock Brew on tap which is only available in Alberta and once with the train that passes through town which is clearly marked as a Canadian Pacific Railway train.
This premiere aired approximately 2 weeks after the previous show Emily Andras was involved with, Lost Girl, aired its series finale.
Greg Lawson (Sheriff Nedley) and Natascha Girgis (Gus) have previously appeared together in the TV show 'Tom Stone'. They played Staff Sgt. Claude Pennington and Amy respectively.
Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday) and Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp) have both worked with actor Kristopher Turner in different TV shows: Tim and Kristopher worked together in 'Instant Star', playing Tommy Quincy and Jamie Andrews respectively; Melanie and Kristopher worked together in 'Being Erica', playing Rebecca and Jordan respectively.
The show is set in Canada, although the exact area is ambiguous. Wynonna says that Agent Dolls doesn't have jurisdiction because he is a US marshal. He says he is part of a cross border task force.
