Strychnine is a toxic plant alkaloid frequently used to kill rats and small vermin. It has been used as a poison for thousands of years. From the late 1800s through the early 1900s strychnine, in low doses, developed a reputation as a recreational stimulant and performance enhancer. Think energy drink for Victorians.

The black and white mice that zip around in circles are not simply stimulated. They are a breed of Japanese Waltzing Mice and have a genetic disorder. Such mice can not move in a straight line and must move in circles. They also have short, less than ideal lives. Arguably, breeding for 'cute' neurological disorders, like dancing mice or fainting goats, is rather cruel.

A young scientist sets out, on his own, to show what the brain can actually do when properly stimulated. Through the use of electricity and some interesting medications he comes to realize that we are using an infinitely small part of our potential brain power. This comes as a result of trying to get persons to control their bodily functions, including oxygen consumption, through proper stimulus of the brain. Anyway, this comes with some pretty strong potential dangers. The episode is better acted than most and presents some interesting, thought provoking issues. Among these is that when the parts of the brain are stimulated, they affect others.
