Of all the episodes of "Newhart" from the good seasons (i.e., after Kirk left the show), "Ramblin' Michael Harris" might just be the worst. It seems practically scriptless and aside from a segment involving a VERY strict grocery store, none of the show is funny and the plot just bizarre and not in a good way.

Michael is still working at the local grocery store since deservedly losing his job with the TV station. His co-worker apparently is making extra money singing in a lounge after work and Michael jumps into this new gig...going so far as quitting his bag-boy job. When George and the Loudons go to see Michael perform, he's god- awful...and this segment seems to go on FOREVER. At the conclusion, Dick tries his hand at lounge singing and isn't any better.

You just have to see this one to believe how unfunny and painful it is to watch. The fact it came in the final season isn't a huge surprise, as the quality of the shows varied widely...mostly because the show had run out of good script ideas. Horrible and the only way to have made it worse was to have Kirk show up sometime in the show!
