Following a near-apocalyptic zombie outbreak, humans are once again in control. If an occasional rogue zombie finds its way into everyday life, it is quickly disposed of by the authorities. In this day and age, people know how to handle "Zee's". The latest craze is the Zombie Safari - Zafari - a chance to go out and shoot the undead in the wild. The ultimate blood sport experience, and for many the ultimate therapeutic revenge following the losses suffered during the outbreak. Little do the vacationers realize they're actually in a highly controlled environment, where the zombies are always kept at a safe shooting distance. Nothing is left to chance, nothing is unplanned. So far.

The rezort in Mallorca itself was also used in The Night Manager as Hugh Laurie's mansion.

In Spain was only released in 8 theaters (8 provinces). The film was watched by 533 viewers and projected in dubbed version / subtitled version (2 theaters).

Robert Firth, who portrays General Kenneth Varantoom, liked Steve Barker's eclectic style of clothing so much, the director actually let him wear it in the film.

Dougray Scott also played in several episodes of Fear the Walking Dead (2015) another post apocalyptic zombie thriller.

Melanie Gibbs (played by Jessica De Gouw) never killed a single zombie.

Lets be honest, there have been some truly awful B grade Zombie flicks. Thankfully, Rezort is not one of them.

Yes this film has a modest budget and location and yes, its hardly original. That said what Rezort does, it does with a simple, honest, gnashing enthusiasm. Its pacing is good and whilst this is not going to engage the synapses all that much it does engage on a sensory level, with lots of action and a few mild scares.

Just as importantly, its a competent production that employs some capable Brit actors and utilizes reasonable if not exceptional sets and locations.

All in all there a lot more to like here than not, if you are a fan of the Zombie/survival horror genre and you want an afternoon or evenings chill out action flick fun. Seven out of ten from me.

A zombie pandemic that has claimed 2 billion lives is finally over, the remaining undead kept on an island where guests can pay to shoot the carefully restrained reanimated corpses with high-powered firearms. Unfortunately for the resort's latest visitors, the technology designed to keep them safe from harm goes on the blink, allowing the living dead to satisfy their hunger for human flesh once more.

Put simply, The Rezort is Jurassic Park with zombies. But director Steve Barker is no Spielberg, and his modest budget can only stretch so far, which means that the promising premise really isn't given the treatment it deserves. Barker doesn't do a terrible job given the circumstances, I suppose, keeping the pace going at a decent lick, but with limited gore, not enough scares, and a cast whose only 'star' is Dougray Scott (i.e., he's the only one I've heard of), this is ultimately just another in a long line of unexceptional zombie flicks.

This is a good movie. The producer wanted a Jurassic Park-like movie with zombies instead of dinosaurs. They succeeded.I won't bore with what the movie is about more than that.I was impressed by the acting. Most b flicks have actors with poor skills. These actors act as if they were in a big budget blockbuster. No phoning it in, in The Rezort.Character development happens while the action takes place so there is no boring first half hour.Thank you for that! This is how an action movie should be...just enough character development as we go along so we care about the characters and still get to be thrilled by the action.

The location(Phillipines) and props are interesting and engaging. This doesn't seem like a low budget movie.

However,i would have preferred the "disaster" happen a little less suddenly,it seemed a little rushed. It does set up several situations for us to want follow up on though. The zombies are different from the usual zombie in that they seem a little smarter than they should be..but that makes the Rezort and it's purpose all the more compelling and controversial.A little cheesy at times but nothing too over the top.

Great make up effects, great camera work..this is a professionally made movie.Worth a watch...you might even watch it again. It borders on b flick for its few flaws but overall this is not a b flick SYFY movie.

Right, well anything that even remotely reeks of anything zombie, and my interest is caught. And I hadn't even heard of "The Rezort" prior to finding it by sheer luck. I was intrigued by the fancy movie cover, and surprised to realize that it was a zombie movie after having read the synopsis.

I had no expectations to the movie, especially since zombie movies often tend to turn out to be stinkers - no pun intended. However, "The Rezort" was an entertaining movie, albeit it did have its flaws.

The story is set in a post apocalyptic world where zombies have been confined to a remote island where a people pay money to go on a morbid safari, if you will. They are equipped with guns and can shoot zombies on the island. However, due to a security breach, something goes awry with the system and the zombies break free of their containment, chasing after those who where there to put them down.

Right, well the story was original, and it was actually quite entertaining. So a big thumbs up on that part. It was nice to watch something new and refreshing for a change, as zombie movies tend to stick to the traditional Romero-blueprint.

However, the movie wasn't of the biggest of budgets, and that was reflected in the special effects and zombie make-up department. I am not saying that they were B-movie bad, not at all. I am just saying that they could have profited from having better effects and make-up, because some of it was questionable.

Personally I have a hard time with zombies, or infected people, who are agile and running around. It just doesn't sit well with me. So it was a notch downward when they introduced fast, agile and running zombies in "The Rezort".

Honestly, then I don't recall any of the acting performances to stand out. With that being said, I am not saying that people were doing poor jobs. No, what I am saying is that people did good enough jobs, although there just wasn't anyone who was particularly outstanding or memorable.

All in all an entertaining movie, with a nice fresh take on the zombie genre. "The Rezort" is well worth watching, if you haven't already seen it, just as it is a welcomed addition to the movie collection of any zombie aficionado.

Zombie films are pretty common place these days with the sub-genre being saturated with entries. So expectations are generally pretty low when a new one comes around the block. This rule of thumb applies to The Rezort. But I have to say that this one keeps things a little more interesting than usual. The set-up about a high-tech resort where adrenaline mad tourists can visit to shoot zombies is a pretty good new angle for the genre; even if it essentially borrows heavily from Michael Crichton penned sci-fi classics Westword (1973) and Jurassic Park (1993), especially when we have the zombies breaking free and causing all manner of horrors on the humans in a very similar way to what the androids and dinosaurs did in those two earlier films. Still, I didn't really mind this derivative aspect very much as at least it seemed – to me at least – to be a new angle for the zombie film.

For those who are interested in the distinction, this is one of the ones which has fast zombies. They bomb about in hot pursuit of the protagonists and you can probably imagine that it ends in tears for almost everyone. There is a little bit of political subtext added to the mix as well with a revelation later in the film involving refugees, which of course taps into a current issue in a zombie tradition that goes all the way back to George A. Romero. But mainly, this is a nicely distinctive new entry into an over-populated sub-genre. All things considered, I thought it was pretty good.

Survivors of a zombie holocaust travel to an expensive island resort, where the last remaining creatures are kept in captivity, but things don't go to plan.

Jurassic Park of the undead. This was a pleasant surprise, since most zombie productions are basement crud while this production is well paced and put together. We're introduced by an after the fact news report, then we get to know the characters before the action kicks in. The zombies are called pacers, but they sure can move, and there are several effective jump scares as they lunge out of nowhere.

The plot makes political points, but more of the earnest type than Romero-style satire, and while the refugee angle turns out interesting you have to wonder why we would have that problem after a big chunk of the population has been wiped out. Turns out movie makers aren't Marxists after all. Duh.

Some of the dialogue is on the nose, and there's a poorly judged sequence as the characters saunter along expositioning to each other just after their deadline for escape has been set. Also, typical of British horror to subject the audience to irritating joke characters. And some "why don't they just close the door?" moments.

Performances are good. Photography good, although the zombies are a bit tame with not enough bizarro images. Editing on the news reports is irritating to begin with, but otherwise fine. Music was lively.

Overall: not perfectly conceived or executed, but good entertainment.

After an apocalyptic zombie outbreak, where more than two-billion people died, the worldwide situation is under control and the creatures have been destroyed. The cities are being rebuilt and there are camps of refugees kept by donation of the survivors. However, there is an isolated island where The Rezort, owned by Wilton (Claire Goose), is located and guests may participate in Zombie Safari to shoot the undead that are kept behind electric fences and locks monitored 24 hours/ day for sport of therapy. When the new guests arrive, a group go for camping in an isolated area of the compound. However there is a breach in the computer system caused by the guest Sadie (Elen Rhys) that used an encrypted flash drive in the computer system. The responsible for the computer system Salva (Shane Zaza) hides the information to fix later, but there is a virus that corrupts the files and releases the zombies, activating a protocol to destroy the island. Most of the staff and guests are killed in the main building; but the group formed by Archer (Dougray Scott), Melanie (Jessica De Gouw), her boyfriend Lewis (Martin McCann), the teenager Jack (Jassa Ahluwalia), Sadie and the guide Nevins (Kevin Shen) survives and seek a boat to leave the island before destruction. What is the purpose of Sadie and will the group survive?

"The Rezort" is a full of action and entertaining zombie film despite the rip-off of the storyline of Jurassic Park and how zombies are produced. The production is great with good cast, including Dougray Scott. The open conclusion is certainly for a sequel with the character Archer. My vote is six.

I went into this film expecting a B-movie zombie flick, a flawed gem among flawed gems basically. The reason there are so many b-movie zombie adaptations out there is because there is a market for it. Zombie films as we know them today have been around for 25 years. Before that there was the occasional zombie movie made. When the 90's hit it was all out zombie-palooza basically kicking butt with Resident Evil all the way through to The Walking Dead on TV!?! Within this red hot mess of zombie mess the market for b- movie zombie films was birthed. B-zombie films like this one worked, and fans like myself decided that we didn't need to have A-list movie stars and intricate and deep plots to be able to enjoy a good zombie horror film.

There is something truly terrifying about being eaten alive by a mob of human beings that has always given me nightmares. I assume that many others feel the same way too. ReZort is definitely a B-zombie movie. Hands down it has all the fixins' that go into the B persona:

  • Dystopian future earth where the Z apocalypse has come and gone recently - The last zombies from the plague on earth are kept on an isolated island where they are kept for adrenaline junkies who want to re-live the break-out in a machine gun splatter fest where the Z's are chained together to easily be taken down - You guessed it, someone hacks the islands computers and all the chained up Z's go free creating a real splatter fest - Just like Resident movies, there is a sinister company behind everything with sinister experiments going on - The difference that made this B-zombie flick a step above was that they actually had a few actors that I reckognized to pull a bit of acting off. - The other MAJOR factor that made this B flick a bit better athan the average b-Z flick is that it actually had some kind of a budget! - The director managed to get some government money for this middle eastern made movie I think because they had lots of custom vehicles, boats, buildings and structures from real movie sets...some of these things don't come cheap these days!

Plot: The film tells the history of the virus that kills 1/3rd of the earths population in just a decade. Having won the war, Earth has wiped out the plague and rebuilt. There is one island where some remaining zombies are kept for safari, and that's when the island gets hacked and mayhem ensues. Surprisingly it's not a bad movie. The plot isn't new, nor is it amazing, but it is fun and entertaining for a few hours. I rate it 7/10 on the B-movie scale as a good way to enjoy a late night movie. Don't expect Z-Nation, but rather a fast paced mind numbing show.

On the bad end of things the sound was not great, the actors were crappy minus the few recognizable actors they blew the majority of their money on, and the mass cgi effects were crappy.

Beyond all that enjoy the movie is worth your time IF you enjoy B-movie zombie flicks!

in a market overflowing with zombie movies, it can't be easy for movie studios to come up with new and interesting takes on the genre, but with The Rezort they came up trumps

the movie zips along at a decent pace with enough zombie action to satisfy most fans of the genre, and the characters are the kind you actually care about for once, with Dougray Scott being the most recognisable out of all the actors present.

just in case you were wondering how an island could continue to function with only a finite number of zombies to shoot, this issue is actually dealt with as part of the plot, and is a shocking revelation when it comes.

all in all, it's a decent way to spend an hour and a half, and is certainly a lot better than some of the dross out there

Purely based on the entertainment, the acting and the filming The Rezort doesn't deserve more then a five star rating. Maybe a bit more if you base it just on his genre. And by that I mean for a zombie movie it's okay. I saw way worse zombie movies but also much better. In this one the variant is that people go on a safari on an island to shoot zombies and of course it all goes wrong. A lot of shooting, running and biting, the usual zombie stuff. It is what it is, but if you like that kind of stuff then with this movie it is what you will get. I have kind of an overdose of the zombie genre so maybe I'm a bit biased writing about The Rezort. Anyways, it could have been much worse so I won't complain any further.

I saw the title and a couple of reviews and I was like "yeah, another zombie crap". I mean, really, the name "ReZort" sounds like a bad joke for stupid people.

Well, today I was bored, nothing to watch and... boy I was wrong! Movie is far from stupid, far from cheap and for sure far from boring. Yes, there are cliche characters - to be honest each movie have 'em lately. Also since now is mandatory for each movie to force-feed audience with SJW bs, of course there are "strong independent women", unreliable men, and because of that, you pretty much know in advance who's going to be alive at the end.

The script is actually well written. There are no plot-holes... well, except one, but we can let it slide because "Archer", ok? Acting is more than decent, characters emotions are believable, and their actions make sense. There is no "let's split to cover more ground" non-sense, or other cringey bs we keep seeing in movies of the same genre.

For me it's a 6/10. Would've been more, but if I'd give this movie a 9, then Alien would be a 17, and that's not possible.

Love the zombie genre, and this is a gem of a film, don't know why it didn't get cinema release as I'd have paid to go and watch it.

What a refreshing take on the zombie movie, starts off on a bit of a positive note set after the zombies had walked the earth. But they had been contained and one enterprising business woman sets out to capitalise on this and sets up a zombie safari.

I enjoyed the acting, the story was good and kept you engaged, and unlike some films I did care what happens to the main cast.

If your looking for a zombie film that doesn't bite then look no further this is the one to watch and enjoy.

Hats off to the writers producers etc for putting together a great entertaining film, and let's hope they make a sequel with the same standard of production and writing.

It be interesting to see why this film never made it to our cinema screens, it appears to be direct to DVD. It not a classic of the genre by any stretch of the imagination but the acting, directing, CGI and many other areas of the film at least match some of the smaller budget films I seen in cinema, think The Purge, Paranormal Activity, Monsters. An it clearly had a budget far bigger than your standard straight to DVD film or syfy productions. I would say if this was produce in the US and was set in a US context, I bet it would have gotten a lot more attention and almost certainly made it into cinema.

There were few things I think lets this film down, the lack of frights, the parts where we see the people at the luxury resort was to short, there should have been more of a party atmosphere. Wish we gotten more of the story around the refugee camp and what was going on there, an how big the conspiracy was and how much of our guides knew.

Not expecting much, got ready for 90 odd mins of splattering and...

Well, it does what it says in the blurb. Sure, there's a bit of clunky dialogue but the acting is fine. The action is pacey, and the whole film zips along nicely. Generally, it sort of feels like a video game: ah, yes, we have THIS set piece; oho! THAT device is next, of course... But such formulae don't detract.

As for those reviews who say it's just a bit of schlocky fun... My response to them is,

"So when the horror unfolded, it certainly gave ME the shudders... What kind of human being are YOU?"

Worth a look, little time wasted on big back stories and stuff, just on with the show!

I was quite surprised by this movie, firstly to discover it was British, seems like a genre forgotten in Britain in recent times, and secondly I was surprised by how good it was. The concept was quite unique I thought, not the typical Zombie break out film, more a Zombie break in movie. People paying to gun down Zombies in a post zombie attack world, combined with some dark charity work dealings it made for interesting viewing. Less graphic and gory then equivalent American productions, I think it's fair to say the film focused more on the scenario. well acted, Jessica de Gouw and Dougray Scott both pretty good. Some very fine scenes, I thought the end chase looked fantastic, very reminiscent of World War Z. If you go in with moderate expectations you may be pleasantly surprised.

As the tag line states: Jurassic Park meets The Walking Dead. The look and feel of the film plays out like an episode of The Walking Dead, while the island motif lends itself to a Lost comparison, as well. Good performances all around. Script is definitely derived from Jurassic Park (computer system failure), but the budget-restraints give it a fun vibe and keep it from looking overly slick. Nice synth-driven soundtrack compliments the proceedings. Folks visit a post- zombie outbreak island resort that allows visitors to hunt and kill the undead with automatic weaponry. The flood of zombie mayhem flicks in the last decade has offered much worse. Overall, it's fun little romp that doesn't disappoint.

There are quite a few movies referenced in here or being ripped off you could say. Of course this being a zombie movie, you'll either have love or hate for it from the start. Whether you are in favor then or not will kind of determine how much fun you'll have watching this. It's not a masterpiece (far from it), but even with all the flaws it has, it can be a fun ride.

The effects are neat, the characters are dispensable and the "story" forgettable. What remains is a low budget action horror movie on an island. Some characters may be more annoying than others and of course they be doing crazy insane things, but what else is new? So either sit back and take it in ... or don't bother watching at all

The Rezort is much better than some people here are giving it credit for, and I think at least some of the backlash is just a manifestation of zombie oversaturation.

Putting that aside, what we have is a tense British horror film with some great cinematography, very solid production values, and a premise that hasn't been done before in the genre -- imagine Jurassic Park with zombies instead of dinosaurs.

The Rezort exists on a tropical island -- after humanity finally eradicated the undead, at the cost of 2 billion lives, people discovered the island had also been overrun and was crawling with zombies. Instead of bombing the island, they put up fences, created trails, and built a first-class resort for people who want to go on "safari" hunting the undead.

That sounds like the story can go only two ways -- either awesome or cheesy. But the script goes a good job of showing us why each of the characters went to the resort, and what they hope to accomplish there. For Mel, the main character, it's a way of dealing with the PTSD from the earlier zombie outbreak and the horrors she endured, like watching her own father turn. She's accompanied by her supportive boyfriend, Lewis.

The group also includes a pair of teenage gamers, Jack and Alfie, who think the island is going to be one big FPS game; Sadie, an attractive Welsh woman who's visiting on her own; Archer, a sharpshooter who seems to enjoy it when things go wrong; and Nevins, the park-employed guide who takes the visitors out onto the island in a Jeep.

The movie establishes early on that this is an expensive, luxurious place. Upon arriving at the island's dock, guests are offered champagne as they're driven to the palatial main resort. Once there, they're given shooting lessons, offered their choice of firearms, and feted in a first-night party by the resort's pool, with the park's creator wishing them good luck on the hunt.

Needless to say, things don't go as planned and the park's billion-dollar security system is compromised, disabling active defenses and allowing the undead to breach the island's fences and the resort itself.

I'll leave the synopsis there to avoid spoilers, but it's worth pointing out that The Rezort is tight from start to finish, with solid performances and attention to detail. Guns run out of ammo, people act the way they'd act in a crisis. The story unfolds realistically, which isn't often true of other zombie films and TV shows.

Overall this is a good addition to the horror and zombie genres.

After humanity wins a war against zombies, tourists are able to kill zombies for sport at the Rezort.

Director Steve Barker who debuted with Outpost (2008) offers a zombie flick which echoes

Westworld (1973)and Jurassic Park (1993) premise. While Rezort isn't as tight as Outpost, quite choppy in fact the zombie resort idea is a winning formula. Despite some dubious casting and dialogue this modest budget horror has plenty of great zombie action. Its Island setting gives it an throw back feel to Fulci's Zombie (1979) and Fear the Walking Dead (in which Dougray Scott also appeared) rather than Romero's 'of the Dead' films and/or The Walking Dead series.

To writers Paul Gerstenberger's credit there is an interesting novel aspect as guest Melanie, played glowingly by Jessica Elise De Gouw who wants to conquer her psychological issues caused by the zombie war. This take is clearly what brought Barker and Scott's talent to the table. That said, it feel rushed in places especially when the park's security begins to unravel. The on location shoot works in its favour and Gerstenberger comes up trumps with a social commentary of sorts around refugees and class reminiscent of The Dead (2010), The Dead 2 (2013) and WWZ (2013) to name a few.

As forgettable sub characters get picked off one by one Martin McCann is notable as Lewis, but Dougray Scott effortlessly steals any sort of screen presence from the rest of cast excluding De Gouw of course who plays the trouble everyday girl in a horrific situation well. There's no lack of effort in the makeup department either, the effects are finely executed from the most part, rapid head shots, zombie bites, all the zombie staples are there. But technically there's some short comings in the editing and staging notable when the group try to pass through a fence damaged by a jeep it loses its lustre and logic.

With Resident Evil (2002) Hive like rooms and an impending countdown to doom. Its far from a DTV or SYFY film. The issue with Rezort is not that its derivative, it's just not slick enough or able to focus on a potential bleak tone or its unique and interesting aspects making it feel more like the entertaining Cockney Versus Zombies (2012) without the comedy rather than the Day of the Dead it should be.

Still the Michael Crichton themes with robots and dinosaur replaced for zombies makes Rezort worth watching just for the living dead hell of it.

I am all for another zombie flick. The idea of a zombie park on an island is fair enough. But not much about this movie is actually working. Poor story, poor acting, poor dialogue. There is only one credible actor, the guy who is a really good at shooting. He makes the best of a shitty manuscript. Here comes the spoiler: There was one thing that actually intrigued me. But one sentence in an entire manuscript just isn't enough. This whole thing was probably caused by a computer virus made by undead rights activists. Now that is something new. But it wasn't explored any further. Except this one sentence. The creators of this movie are fools. They probably had some of their friends write positive reviews here on IMDb.
