An isolated community of superhumans fight to protect themselves.
Inhumans Online
The Inhumans have always been one of Marvel's most enduring oddities. A race of genetic outsiders, they live secluded in their island kingdom of Attilan, preferring not to mix with the outside world. Even stranger, their genetic mutations are self-endowed; each Inhuman, as a coming-of-age ritual, endures exposure to the Terrigen Mists, a strange substance that imparts unearthly powers--some extraordinary, some monstrous. But now the kingdom of Attilan is under attack from without and within. Can the Royal Family, led by Black Bolt, repel the foreign invaders who blast at their outer defenses, as well as the internal threat of Black Bolt's insane brother, Maximus the Mad? This popular series takes a classic Marvel cast of characters, and infuses it with a modern sensibility that includes international politics and an awareness of class systems. Dark and grimly compelling, the "Inhumans" is one story that won't be forgotten any time soon.

The Inhumans are a 7,000-year-old group of early humans that were experimented on and given powers by the Kree. The Kree previously appeared in the Marvel's Cinematic Universe, in Galaktika valvurid (2014) and S.H.I.E.L.D.i agendid (2013).
Black Bolt communicates via sign language. An idea was proposed to have a voiceover from Anson Mount as telepathy, but the filmmakers ruled it out, not only to make Black Bolt more enigmatic but to appeal to deaf-mute viewers.
This was most generally considered Marvel's biggest "risk" as the Inhumans were not nearly as widespread or known as the X-Men or the Avengers, which was why Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D.i agendid (2013) spent its entire second and third seasons focused on developing and establishing the Inhumans in the MCU, several years before the debut of the Inhuman Royal Family.
When originally conceived as a film, Inhumans (2017) was to be Chapter 11 of Phase 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before being removed from the schedule. However, a film centering on the Royal Family may still happen in the future.
Was originally announced on October 28, 2014, as a film along with Black Panther (2018), Kapten Marvel (2019), and Avengers 3 & 4 (Infinity War).
The Inhumans were first introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the television series S.H.I.E.L.D.i agendid (2013). The characters of Skye (Daisy Johnson), Raina, Lincoln, Gordon and Jiaying were the first live-action Inhumans.
This is the third TV series to be released by ABC for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Black Bolt leads the Inhumans. In the comics he has the ability to harness the power of electrons via the tuning fork on his forehead. He uses these electrons to heighten his speed, strength, agility, etc. He also channels the electrons inward to amplify his quasi-sonic scream/whisper. Thus far, on the show, his only ability is the deadly shock wave generated by his voice.
The main Inhumans are the Royal Family: Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, Crystal, and Lockjaw.
Vin Diesel expressed interest for the role of Black Bolt, although he already has a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Groot, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Anson Mount eventually won the role.
Inhumans show runner Scott Buck also ran another Marvel TV series, Iron Fist (2017), which debuted on Netflix March 17, 2017.
Many fans of the television show S.H.I.E.L.D.i agendid (2013) have asked whether or not any of the characters introduced in Inhumans will cross over into other Marvel shows or movies. In an interview published September 30, 2017, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb told IGN, "Do I look forward to the day where Daisy Johnson stands in front of Black Bolt and says, 'You aren't the king of me?' Sure. We should be so lucky that both shows get to that day where we're going to see those characters interact. But there's no plan for that to happen right now other than the fact that we know they're in the same world and characters bump into each other. That's what happens. That's the Marvel Universe."
The series was filmed in Hawaii, USA.
The characters of the Inhumans were originally introduced in December 1965 in the pages of Fantastic Four, but due to 20th Century Fox holding the film rights to the Fantastic Four, the Inhumans in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) were introduced through Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D instead.
This was Iwan Rheon's second time portraying a superhero on-screen. His first was in the British drama Misfits (2009).
Anson Mount and Serinda Swan, who play the royal couple Black Bolt and Medusa, both appeared in the DC Comics television show Smallville (2001) in different roles: Mount had a minor role in Smallville: Precipice (2003), and Swan had a three-episode stint as the magician Zatanna. This puts them in the small group of actors who have played roles in both DC and Marvel Comics productions.
The Inhumans are a race of superhumans who appear in various comic book series published by Marvel Comics. Each episode shares its title with a comic book story featuring the Inhumans.
Attilan is surrounded by a protective energy field in the shape of a cone. The cone shape was chosen so the Quiet Room where Black Bolt spends much of his time could be directly below the apex of the field, so if he accidentally produces any sonic waves, the waves are redirected up the side of the cone and out the apex into outer space and away from the city.
Officially announced on Monday, November 14, that this would be an ABC television show to be released in IMAX for certain theaters in September 2017.
Loki, Thor's nemesis from the Marvel comics and Commodus from Gladiator (2000) are considered influences behind the character of Maximus and his arc.
Crystal's bedroom was designed to be able to fit her giant dog Lockjaw; while his sleeping/living areas had to be sized to fit the dog, the doors were left normal-sized since he could teleport.
Ken Leung, Anson Mount and Henry Ian Cusick previously appeared in Teadmata kadunud (2004). Both series were filmed in Hawaii.
Ken Leung, who portrayed the Inhuman Karnak, also portrayed the mutant Quill in X-mehed: viimane vastuhakk (2006). Both characters have tattoos on their faces.
The first Marvel TV series released in IMAX two weeks before its TV airing.
The art department cites Ancient Greek and Russian architecture (ancient long-lasting designs), brutalist architecture (large blocky basic designs) and 1960s modern art (primarily geometrical designs) as an influence on the design of Attilan.
The series was canceled after 1 season due to poor ratings and negative reviews from critics.
During production, the working title "Project Next" was used.
The series received poor reviews from critics and was reported as canceled after its first season.
Cody Runnels wanted to portray Black Bolt.
Medusa is named after the monster from Greek mythology, a woman with living venomous snakes for hair. Medusa can control the movement of her every strand of her hair and allowing it to like whip or completely wrap around someone.
Henry Ian Cusick had starred opposite Karen Gillan in Not Another Happy Ending (2013). Karen Gillan plays Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Funko released Pop! vinyls of Black Bolt, Medusa, Maximus and Lockjaw.
Johanna McGinley was rumored for the role of Crystal.
Eliana Jones was rumored to play Crystal.
Elysia Rotaru was considered for the role of Medusa.
Owen Harn was considered for the role of Gorgon.
Nicola Peltz is the latest of actors/actresses who have appeared in both the Transformers live-action film franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Others are
- Rachael Taylor (Jessica Jones (2015) and The Defenders (2017))
- Laura Haddock (Kapten Ameerika: Esimene tasuja (2011), Galaktika valvurid (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017))
- Titus Welliver (Marvel One-Shot: Item 47 (2012)) and S.H.I.E.L.D.i agendid (2013))
- Stanley Tucci (Kapten Ameerika: Esimene tasuja (2011))

- Hugo Weaving (Kapten Ameerika: Esimene tasuja (2011)) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)).
The high cost of producing Lockjaw's VFX resulted in the character being removed from the series as it progressed.
