The Squaw's Mistaken Love (1911) Online

An old miner, leading some of the younger men across the mountain to the gold fields, permits his daughter to accompany him, in the disguise of a man. She and another are left in charge of their camp, while the miners seek for gold. The camp is surprised by the Indians, however, and the old man's daughter and her companion are taken prisoners by the Indians. Things look mighty bad for them, but the Indians have not counted on a strange love affair. One of the squaws falls in love with the girl dressed in man's clothes, and this leads her to help them to escape. As they do they are pursued, which leads to a pretty fight between the Indians and the miners, and a real love affair between the girl and her companion in trouble.

The young squaw mistook the captive for a man and made love to her. The girl's father wanted her to stay at home while he, with the girl's lover and others, made a trip over the mountains in a search for gold. The girl, dressed as a man, followed, and they didn't send her back. Later she and her lover are separated from the rest of the party and are captured by Indians. The squaw frees them and runs away with them and has a rude awakening. Surely this is a new incident in Western pictures. As for the rest of the picture, it is made up largely of such happenings as have become stock properties of such pictures, the chase for instance. These are, however, handled with much skill. The acting is good, the photographs clear and the scenes interesting. - The Moving Picture World, October 21, 1911
