Tuberculosis (TB) is a worldwide, airborne epidemic that kills more than 1.5 million people each year - as many as HIV/AIDS. Healthcare workers are on the front lines of this epidemic, putting themselves at risk of TB exposure and infection on a daily basis while caring for others. Going beyond the usual data and statistics of a global health crisis, TB Unmasked explores the personal stories of healthcare workers - the people we often take for granted as we seek our own care. With diverse experiences from South Africa, India, and New York City, we see different aspects of what it means to confront a disease considered to be a "global health emergency."
