Rickie Malinas is the sports writer for the San Tanco Tribune. But he's also temporarily Dear Aggie, the paper's advice columnist. He convinces Sister Bertrille to take over Dear Aggie duties until he can find a permanent replacement. Dear Aggie receives a letter from Margareta Pedrosa about her new boyfriend, who unbeknownst to Sister Bertrille/Dear Aggie is Carlos' mild mannered assistant, Roberto. Margareta appreciates Dear Aggie's advice. But Roberto consults Carlos, and Sister Bertrille consults Carlos when it comes to Margareta's letter, which leads to a mix of results for poor Roberto. Finally Carlos finds out that Sister Bertrille is Dear Aggie, and based on the problems it has caused for Roberto and Margareta, the Reverend Mother ends Sister Bertrille's life as Dear Aggie. However, when Rickie asks Sister Bertrille to look at one more letter from Margareta, Sister Bertrille suspects that it is actually Carlos who is Margareta's boyfriend, Carlos who wants to take advantage of...

The title is a parody based upon the advise column of Dear Abby started by the late Abigail Van Buren and now carried on by her daughter.
The home setting is the same as the one used in I Dream of Jeannie. It is especially obvious with the greenish glass portion to the kitchen.
