According to Forbes, South Korean boy band Big Bang earned $44 million in 2015-2016 and "clocked the biggest year ever for a K-Pop act." They also became the first Korean act to land on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list, thanks largely in part to arena shows in Asia and beyond. Big Bang grossed an average of $2.6 million per night on its world tour "MADE."
The documentary film is a piece of the South Korean boy band Big Bang's various programs to stamp the group's tenth anniversary in the entertainment industry. They made their official debut amid YG Family's 10th Year Concert on August 19, 2006, at the Gymnastics Arena in Seoul Olympic Park.
The "BIGBANG MADE" documentary movie is about the group's second world tour, "MADE," through which the group hit up thirty-two cities in thirteen counties, for a total of sixty-six concerts and 1.5 million spectators during the span of April 2015 through March 2016.
South Korean boy band Big Bang's record label, YG Entertainment, told Yonhap News Agency about the documentary movie, "We vividly filmed their natural aspects without any script at the request of the members. You can see their new aspects, ranging from their feelings about contract renewals that fell in the middle of the tour, to their mischievous sides."
The documentary film was screened with CGV ScreenX, which showed the movie on three screens for a 270-degree viewing experience.
The documentary film premiered on June 30, 2016, exclusively at Korean cinema chain CGV.
The film shows South Korean boy band BIGBANG'a large-scale performances from the tour and professionalism as artists onstage, as well as BIGBANG as just a group of guys in their twenties hanging out backstage. The members specifically asked that the filming take place as naturally as possible, and theatergoers can see behind-the-scenes footage from the tour, including the group members' bare faces, their candid discussions about renewing their contracts with their label, YG Entertainment, and more.
